   Hey Game Makers! THIS IS A SERIOUS POST. IF YOU'RE NOT INTO THAT, SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE!:D


    Piece of advice! When someone spends 14 hours a day working hard trying to make something they love as awesome as they can - don't go moral-superiority on them and say they half-ass it, as clearly everything you have ever made is a godly-masterpiece. Why? Because you don't know, and it's honestly that kind of attitude that makes people want to give up and quit things. If you think you're helping them, you're very much not, and they probably shouldn't have you as a friend.

    Recently, there was a death over on a youtube channel I know and love(GameTheory), and it has me thinking a lot about life, death, and how people get to a point where they can't go on anymore. I've been there. I don't ever want to be there again, so as a coping mechanism I keep busy with projects whenever I can. It's what I do, and what I've always done. That is the main underlying reason I make games, art, videos, ect. No one knows what you're feeling and how you take things if you don't tell them. That's something I learned, and have to remind myself all the time. But this isn't about that.

    Plenty of people struggle with things. Hard things, difficult things, scary things, that trapped feeling, the overwhelming darkness you can't escape... and most of the time the people who cause you problems, who try to hurt you are the ones who need the most support. From my experience, they don't even realize they're being hurtful, or that you could possibly take something, some offhand comment, so incredibly deeply that you go home later and cry about it, overthink it until you're so braindead nothing exists anymore, and keep it to yourself - "telling them won't change anything anyway".

    The paradox becomes "Why would you want to help someone whose mean to you?", or "How can I be strong enough to help them if everything they say is passive aggressive against me?", but most of all, "They won't accept my help even if I try. What can I even do?"

   To be honest, I don't have an answer. I'm not sure what to do. The types of people that are like this aren't going to divulge their deep dark secrets to you, no matter how much you try to support them. The only answer I have here is this: be there as long as you're strong enough to.

    If you get to a point you can no longer handle it, get out. Get away. Stay away. But when you become strong enough to help again(and you will), be there.

    I'm not really sure what the point I was trying to make with this is. I like befriending people, and I honestly get into other people's emotional problems far more than I should, so much so that I end up being affected negatively myself. I can't stand seeing people hurt. This is so strong to the point where I'll see a troll comment on youtube and be like "What have you possibly been through to make you act that way? Is there anything I could say to you that would actually help you? I wish I could magic your life better.", and that's usually where it ends because I'm too shy to go through with that. I feel like that's my weakest area.

    In any case, to sum up my ranting and raving; I'm not here to tell you how to act, what to think, or how you should treat others. That's all you:) This post is me being somewhat emotionally overwhelmed by several different recent events and feeling the need to vent my points. This is not intended to challenge, or promote any specific idea. This is just me saying that when you try to help people over the internet(or otherwise), try even the ittiest bit to be aware of where your voice is coming from - a place of genuine help and care, or a place of self-righteous idealistic moral superiority. Of course no one's perfect. I've done this unintentionally myself. The point is to try, think, and become aware. This is also not refering to any one individual, but a collective consciousness of experiences I've had while being a Creator.

   To conclude, I am one girl. I have a limit. Everyone does. And I really want to play Nier Automata.

 
GMEM2 INFO REGARDING VOICE ACTING

   This has gotten brought up several times and I'm quite completely sick of re-answering this, so:
As stated in the GMEM2Devlog 1.5, I am doing a ME-ONLY-SCRATCH-TRACK TO PUT ALL OF THE FILES IN THE GAME. NEAR THE GAME'S COMPLETION WHEN I HAVE A MORE ACCURATE IDEA OF HOW MUCH TEXT IT WILL HAVE(AND BY EXTENSION HOW MUCH MONEY IT WILL COST ME) I WILL BE LOOKING FOR VOICE ACTORS, so if you're interested, at that time I will post a 'looking for voice actors' thing, and you can come audition:), AND THE ME-ONLY SCRATCH TRACK WILL BE AVAILABLE AS EITHER DLC, OR AN INGAME OPTION.
THAT IS THE CURRENT PLAN OF ATTACK. VOICES CAN BE TURNED OFF.

   I've posted an update video over on youtube
going over what I've been working on and
what my plans are. Basically...
 
GMAE EQ5 PATCH POSTED!
   Added Epilogue Quest 5 PATCH for GMAE(Gaia's Melody 2: Another Epilogue) to the game projects page. This FINALLY concludes the last extra postgame quest.

   This last chapter, "The Past, Our Future" primarily
follows Akira and Zephyr, goes over how and
why Zephyr was born, why Agares is an evil baddy,
FINALLY confirms who Zephyr's mother is, and
wraps everything up in a nice conclusive ending.













ALTERNATE SOUNDTRACKS
   Added separate download links for licensed/royaltyfree/youtube-friendly soundtracks to GMXP and GMAE. These include instructions on how to use them.

ADDED 'DOWNLOADABLES' PAGE
   Created a page for extra downloads, and added Desktop Buddies and the Sprite Animator. Desktop buddies(Shimejis) are chibis that walk around and interact with your windows - the current ones I've made are Akira, Valensiya(Valensiyagames's avatar) and Salia(SaliaNIfo's avatar). The Sprite Animator is a spritesheet viewer program compatible with RMMV-styled spritesheets, made by Salia Nifo. These are all free.

VIDEOS
  The video goes into a lot more detail, but essentially if you have a video request, tweet @Echo607 and I'll look into it. The update video itself was a request, so I mean... probably good there.

NEW GAME PROJECT
   Ahem, Gaia's Melody 2: Echoed Memories, a remake of GM Another Epilogue. Why? Seemed like a good idea at the time(actual reason in video).
   I'll be posting more about it when I have more to show for it. So far I've made 2 songs, 4000+ graphics(excusemewut?) 6 maps, pretty much got the hang of animating again, and seem to be picking up music composition pretty quickly(actually got around to getting a midi-in for my piano, so hopefully that will be beneficial).
   Besides that I've been reworking the Breaktime interface. I think I've finally got something I like, so I'll probably be moving on to other mechanics soon.

 GMEM Let's Play & 1.2.3 UPDATE!

   Hey Game Makers!

   I've finished recording, rendering and
uploading the COMPLETE Let's Play of GMEM.

  An update has been posted to Steam & Itch fixing any issues found during the playthrough.
Primarily just some typos here and there and a few minor "huh well that never happened before let's fix it" moments. I've also added increased difficulty for the final two fights after beating the game once. The MAJIKK JUNGLE/EVERMORE ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED - this happened on older graphics cards/laptops where the map would load but the screen would be black, and is a graphics card limitation. @SaliaNifo made an adjustment to the parallax plugin and made a splicing program to splice up the large map images to load individually, so that shouldn't happen anymore.

  In addition to this, I've also updated some info on the projects page, and included some links to things that are also included in the game's root folder (FAQ&KnownIssues link) as well as a few similar things for GMAE (Costume Guide, updated to include EQ5 things). These can also all be found within the game folders themselves as well.

 GMEM SPRING SALE + LET'S PLAY!!!

  Gaia's Melody Echoed Melodies
will be ON SALE 15% OFF March 12-19th!

   March break is next week where I live,
so I thought what a perfect time to play
with sales over on steam!

   In addition to this, I'll be posting a Let's Play/Walkthrough series on youtube of it, starting
on monday, March 12th at 4pm EST, and running daily (premiere not wanting to be a jerk
pending) until it's completion.

   During the walkthrough, I'll also be going over a lot of details that were listed in the guidebook
DLC, like showing how get date points for each character, finding collectables, and easy ways
to nerf the crap out of bosses.

 
  NOTICE ABOUT GMAE (GM Another Epilogue)
   On an unrelated note, GMAE'S FINAL EPILOGUE QUEST IS FINALLY FINISHED! For those of
you who've played through Gaia's Melody: Another Epilogue, you might have noticed the glaring
absence of the 5th epilogue quest. Now, after a few years(oops), it's finally completed. I'll be
posting a patch for it just as soon as @Valensiyagames gets to doing a quick playtest for me:)

  I've also gone through and replaced the entirety of it's soundtrack(for my own personal use)
with stuff youtube won't try to destroy me over, so if perchance I so decide, a full Let's Play of it may be highly possible in the future.

 Site Updates/ Game Stuff & Videos

 GMEM AVAILABLE ON:

   First of all, MERRY HOLIDAY MONTH!

   For those who wanted to know about LPing GMEM, or doing
fanworks of it, I've included a FAQ&KnownIssues.pdf in the
games root folder, which can also be viewed by clicking that
nice shiny link there. It also contains info on common problems and how you fix them(like memory issues or slowdown)

  The game itself is up to v1.2.1, with the changes being listed in the Changelog.txt file, in the game root. Mostly minor fixes, the biggest one being a performance update in 1.2, helping the game to run better on slower machines and help prevent memory leaks.

  As far as youtube goes, I've made a few Let's Talk videos, but I haven't gotten back into the swing of things as far as consistency goes. There's a Let's Make a Game series I'd like to do, and have it be individual sessions rather than what I did for Misc Adventures (one session of several hours... omg), while getting ideas from you guys. I actually wanted to do a christmas one, but it doesn't seem to be in the cards.
  On that, I won't be doing game demos playthroughs for the forseeable future. HOWEVER, if you can absolutely convince me that your game is too awesome to be ignored, there's hope. There are a few other RM games that might be fun to play, so I've been considering doing that.

  HEY GAME MAKERS!
  THE GAME IS LIVE!!!! LOOK AT THAT HAPPY FACE!

   Along with the game, there will also be a free demo available (I mean hopefully. The world is just super against me setting up a demo, haha), as well as the ULTIMATE GUIDEBOOK as dlc. This contains creator's notes, concept art, and guides for getting various items and scenarios. If these don't show up right away on steam, give it a few days:3 Had some mishaps in the adventures of Steam.

   I'll be adding a more detailed GM:EM page here, with lists of known issues and other interesting things, but that'll have to wait as my web-builder is doing maintenance this weekend(have I ever told you that during this project, everything that could go wrong did? Fun times:3)

   I think that's about all - this experience has been super stressful, but exciting too.

 GAIA'S MELODY SET FOR RELEASE OCT 20th!!!

  HEY GAME MAKERS!

   Why the 20th? Because after that is halloween,

and after that is my birthday, and I know me, and
if I give myself extra time it will never get done.

   Oh my goodness my nerves are off the charts!!!

But I'm also super excited! Yup, can't wait to be
told about all the bugs and typos I missed xD

...Okay, well, maybe not that part, but I'm still
really hyped. Along with the release, I've also updated the Youtube/twitter and patreon art to all match, and the patreon rewards to be more manageable. Fyi, I'm planning on taking a break from game projects to do some youtube tutorials again. HOPEFULLY that goes well, I really have no idea what to expect ^_^'

   The game will be priced at $10.99 usd. It'll also come with a sort of info/guidebook as dlc, I mean, probably. It will available at steam and itch.io. I've never used either, so... experience points!

 GAIA'S MELODY: ECHOED MELODIES RELEASE

  HEY GAME MAKERS!

   After much a wait, we're FINALLY at the point where GM can
be released AND THE HYPE IS REAL. There's a point in game
development, solo-indie especially, where you've played
through your game soooooooo many times that you LITERALLY
NEVER WANT TO LOOK AT IT AGAIN. That doesn't last long,
though. But goodness getting this all set up was a challenge.

   Special thanks to ValensiyaGames(
valensiyagames.com ) and SaliaNifo( salianifo.itch.io ) for their contributions to the project, be it resources, advice, assistance and magic-ing my bugs away.

  
If all goes well, we should be releasing mid-october. More info coming as soon as I get around to making our dumb steam game page. EEEEEEEEE!
